A reviewer is like an otter

(One way to apply to be a theatre festival reviewer…)

Truth is captured in two different ways; through journalism and the performing arts.

Through artistic license and fiction we can see the current that flows beneath the quick news reporting of rippling facts and speech on the surface.

A theatre festival without a decent review is like a river without a playful otter.

The visceral and instinctive beauty of the performance is lost without others knowing how much play, joy and productivity it can provoke in the audience present.

I can be that otter.
